  • Bull Shoals Lake / White River

Bull Shoals Lake is located in the Ozark Mountain range in north central Arkansas. Bull Shoals is a clear 45,000-acre lake with a forested shoreline. Its tailwater the White River is Arkansas' largest river. In springtime, the lake and river are framed by flowering dogwood and redbud trees, in fall, turning leaves provide a colorful display. The lake is a popular spot for water sports and houseboating. Bull Shoals and the White River are both record-holding fishing venues.

  • Eureka Springs

Eureka Springs, population 2,000, is an Ozark Mountains resort town with a European feel. The city became a premiere relaxation resort in the late 19th century when people visited the area seeking restorative water from the "Great Healing Spring." Most of the original Victorian architecture from this time is preserved and the entire downtown commercial district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A large musical, artistic and writing community adds an eclectic feel to the city.

  • Fayetteville

Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base make up one of the world's largest military installations. There are plenty of places to visit including the 82nd Airborne Division War Memorial Museum, the JFK Hall of Heroes. Next explore the Cape Fear Botanical Garden or drop by the Museum of the Cape Fear Historical Complex, the state's oldest history museum.

  • Fort Smith

Fort Smith is a river city of 82,000 with a historical heart. Established in the 1800s, Fort Smith served as a U.S. Army frontier fort playing key roles in westward expansion, Wild West justice, the Civil War and The Trail of Tears. This historic past takes front stage at museums, festivals and events in Fort Smith. Fort Smith is an excellent starting point for Ozarks and Arkansas River Valley trips. A 70-mile journey through the Ozarks on the Arkansas and Missouri Railway's authentic 19th century passenger railway car provides outstanding views especially in fall. Scenic drives, white-water rafting, canoeing, fishing, camping and hiking are available a short drive from the city.

  • Greers Ferry Lake

Greers Ferry Lake is a clear 31,500-acre, record-setting fishing paradise and water sports destination in the Ozark Mountain foothills. Resorts, parks, campgrounds, hiking and horseback riding trails, and golf courses offer views of the lake and mountains. The view from atop Sugar Loaf Mountain, an island peak in the middle of the lake, is worth the hike. Fall is a beautiful time to visit.

State capital Little Rock and neighboring city North Little Rock make up the largest metro area in Arkansas with a combined population of 500,000. The river city's central location makes it an industrial and commercial hub for the state. A mix of small town friendliness and big city spirit make it a popular travel destination. Big city life is balanced by outdoor activities.
