Description

The Civilian Conservation Corps developed the Shady Lake Recreation Area in 1937. The Shady Lake Trail traverses Saline Creek and passes the historic Shady Lake Dam. It continues along the eastern edge of the campground. The trail is ideal for day hiking. Mountain bikers may also use the trail.

Trail Information: Unsurfaced; white rectangles mark the trail.
Water: Potable water at the campground during the recreation season. The campground is normally closed from December through February.
Difficulty Level: Easiest.
History: The Shady Lake Trail was constructed in the 1970s to provide hikers access to some of the highlights of Shady Lake. It was relocated in 1995 by the Student Conservation Association Southern National Forests Revised April, 2005
