Kayaking at Cane Creek State Park

Kayaking at Cane Creek State Park

The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the Soil Conservation Service all worked together to bring Cane Creek Lake and its state park into being.

Cane Creek Lake is built right on the line that separates Lincoln County's rolling hill country and flat delta. The western and southern portion of the lake skirts the bottom of a ridge and slopes quickly into fairly deep water. Across the lake, flat terrain required building a long levee in conjunction with the dam. All but a small portion of the lake is heavily timbered and laced with boat lanes.

Facilities at this 2,053-acre state park are comprised of 30 Class A campsites including "preferred" sites, picnic sites, a standard pavilion, visitor center with exhibits and gift shop, launch ramp, barrier-free fishing piers, trail, bathhouse, rest rooms and playground. A popular attraction is kayak rentals, which provide a leisurely way to explore this fascinating lake.

From Star City, go five miles east on Ark. 293 to get to the park.
