The Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas is located at 701 Main Street in downtown Pine Bluff and is a showcase for the visual and performing arts. It features three art galleries, a science gallery, a theatre and a studio classroom.
The striking exterior is rich terra cotta colored brick with stucco accents. Inside are 22,000 square feet of new facilities for enjoying and learning about the visual and performing arts and sciences. Four exhibition areas provide ample space for the number of exciting exhibits that deal with both artistic and scientific topics and that are displayed year-round. The galleries are open year-round and admission is free. Guided tours are available with prior reservations. Groups of 15 or more should call in advance to make sure space is available for the time of the visit.
Three special programs just for kids are also offered. A Theatre Camp teaches children the basics of stage performing including acting, movement and stagecraft. The Summer Scholars program is for gifted students who want an extra challenge in the arts and in science. Art shop is a studio workshop for kids that focuses on the medium of papermaking and includes the arts of printmaking and bookbinding.
