The five Diamond Lakes, Ouchita, DeGray, Greeson, Hamilton and Catherine, together provide more than 57,000 acres of sparkling clear water entertainment. The lakes are all located within 40 minutes of Hot Springs in the western part of Arkansas.
All the lakes offer fishing with bass and crappie as the main catch. The clean, clear water of these lakes attracts scuba divers. The openness of the lakes makes them ideal for boating and other water sports, such as skiing and sailing. Houseboat rentals are popular on lakes Ouchita, Greeson, and DeGray. Other types of boats are also available to rent on all five lakes.
Lake Ouchita is the largest lake in Arkansas at 40,000 acres. It is a beautiful lake surrounded by the Ouchita forest. Hiking trails are available around the lake. Lake Ouchita is located 13 miles northwest of Hot Springs and is accessible off of State Highways 7/192 and 27, and U.S. Highway 270.
DeGray Lake, 13,000 acres, is known for its resort state park. Camping, horseback riding, and golf are some of the off-the-water activities offered. DeGray Lake is located off of State Highway 7 south of Hot Springs near the town of Arkadelphia.
Greeson, a 7,260 acre lake is a popular fishing spot with houseboat rentals. Lake Greeson is located off of State Highway 27 approximately 45 miles south of Hot Springs, 6 miles from Murfreesboro.
Lake Hamilton and Lake Catherine are located close to Hot Springs. As a result, Lake Hamilton's shoreline is heavily developed with homes, condos and resorts. The 7,200 acre lake is a favorite water sport venue. Lake Catherine is a destination for picnicking, camping, hiking and horseback riding. Lake Hamilton and Lake Catherine are located off of State Highway 7 just south of Hot Springs.
Campgrounds, cabins and resorts are available along the lakes and in the nearby towns. Lodging in the Hot Springs area is plentiful.
